Our responsibility and commitment

Sydney Harbour is a magical place and regardless of whether you’re from Sydney or elsewhere, it deserves to be discovered and also cared for. Not only is it the birthplace of modern Australia as we know it today but as a National Park, it also boosts some of the most unbelievably beautiful harbour beaches, bays and wildlife. In addition, it is of historical, environmental, cultural and ecological significance to Sydney’s and Australia’s past and present and boasts some of the world’s most extravagant real estate

As a business reliant on Sydney Harbour, we do our best to give what we can back. At a minimum, this includes observing responsible tourism principles and adhering to a mandatory Environmental Policy, in accordance with NSW Maritime Guidelines. Some of these principles include;

  • Respecting and educating about Sydney Harbour's Aquatic Reserves and protected areas as well as animal and marine life including endangered species such as the Little Fairy Penguin's.
  • Respecting and educating about Sydney Harbour's history including aboriginal settlement and first-settlement their relevance to Sydney today.
  • Ensuring our boats and their engines are in good working order - regularly checking for leaks and drips.
  • Taking care when filling fuel tanks to avoid spillage, not hosing the fuel into the water.
  • Installing a holding tank and disposing of sewage at approved pump outs.
  • Limiting the amount of water used in sinks/ showers and use low or non-phosphate soaps.
  • Scraping cooking utensils and plates clean before washing-up - often taking them ashore to clean.
  • Taking care when anchoring, avoiding sea-grass beds which are important fish habitats.
  • Sailing as often as possible, but if not, traveling at speeds that avoid excessive wash that may cause bank erosion, disturbance to sensitive river or seabed environments, or annoyance or danger to others.
  • Keeping bilges clean to prevent pollutants being discharged overboard.
  • Understanding and obeying the restrictions for engine noise and amplified music.
  • Preventing the spread of exotic aquatic weeds such as caulerpa taxifolia. Removing and collecting in a plastic bag plant fragments from trailers, props, anchors, ropes, chains and fishing tackle.
  • Collecting all rubbish on board and disposing of/recycling it properly ashore - this includes cigarette butts.
  • When possible, removing the boat from the water and clean at approved slipping facilities where debris can be captured and disposed of properly.
  • When painting the boat's hull, using the right, environmentally-friendly paint, carefully following the application instructions.

  Tread softly. Take only memories. Leave nothing behind.
